Life completely changed for 30 year old Mutuma Kibunjia from Kiareni in Chiakariga Ward after the death of his mother, Sarah Gakii, who was the bread winner in March last year.
Mutuma who has has a disability and cannot speak was left an orphan has one relative, an elder brother, who is also struggling to survive.
Before his mother passed away, Mutuma could walk despite being unable to speak, but after losing his mother and due to severe hunger, lack of proper care and grief his condition worsened.
Today, Mutuma now severely malnourished cannot walk anymore and spends days without food or help from well-wishers.
The young man, now moves by dragging himself on the ground like a small child because he no longer has the strength to walk
Residents also say Mutuma has nobody to assist him in accessing disability support funds or special treatment meant for persons living with disabilities.
The community is now appealing to well-wishers, leaders, and relevant authorities to intervene and assist Mutuma get proper shelter, food as well as medical care so that he can regain strength to continue with his life normally.
