A section of leaders has thrown their weight behind President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s reelection bid in the 2027 general election, urging Kenyans to give the duo a chance to complete ongoing development projects initiated by the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Speaking in Meru County, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili, Taveta MP John Mbwire, and nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni rallied support for the two leaders while calling for the political split of the Mount Kenya region to allow Mount Kenya East to chart its own destiny.
CS Ruku accused Mount Kenya West leaders of isolating themselves from the rest of the country despite benefiting heavily from government allocations since 2002.
He insisted that Mount Kenya East must rise and secure its political future, noting that DP Kindiki is poised to ascend to the presidency in 2032 after President Ruto’s term ends.
“We are not fools anymore. We will not let others continue enjoying development goodies as we suffer in silence. The mountain will split, and Mount Kenya East will chart its way forward,” Ruku declared.
MP Kiili likened the political alliance to marriage, urging Mount Kenya East residents to remain steadfast behind Ruto and Kindiki as they await their turn at the presidency.
MP Muthoni emphasized the importance of continued support to sustain infrastructure projects, while MP Mbwire said the Coast region is firmly behind the duo, describing Kindiki as a humble nationalist and unifying leader.
The leaders vowed to resist opposition influence, particularly from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whom they accused of incompetence during his tenure.
They maintained that Mount Kenya East must prioritize its interests and ensure Kindiki’s political rise.
