Chuka/Igambang’ombe Member of Parliament Patrick Munene has urged political leaders to focus on development issues instead of engaging in divisive rhetoric that does little to improve the lives of Kenyans.
Speaking at St. Peter’s Cathedral Kinoru ACK Church during a fundraising event where he represented Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Munene said wananchi were more interested in tangible development such as better roads, access to clean water, electricity connections and improved public services than political statements that fuel division.
He called on Kenyans to remain peaceful, coexist harmoniously and exercise patience as the government implements its development agenda across the country.
“The government is undertaking various development projects across the country. What is required from Kenyans is patience as these projects are implemented. President William Ruto has good plans for the country and is committed to fulfilling the promises he made,” said Munene.
The MP urged residents of the Mount Kenya region to continue supporting President Ruto and Deputy President Kindiki, saying unity behind the national leadership would enhance the region’s development prospects.
Munene also said the Mount Kenya East region should confidently articulate and negotiate for its fair share of national development and government opportunities, while emphasizing that this should not be viewed as rivalry with the Mount Kenya West region.
He appealed to residents to fully support Deputy President Kindiki, describing him as a son of the region capable of serving all Kenyans fairly.
“Mount Kenya East has come of age and should confidently negotiate for its rightful share of development. We need better roads, reliable water supply and adequate representation in government for our people. This is not about competing with Mount Kenya West, but ensuring equitable development for every region,” he said.
