The Tharaka-Nithi Press Club has congratulated Governor Muthomi Njuki following his election as Chairperson of the Council of Governors (CoG), describing the achievement as a significant moment for the county.
In a congratulatory message issued on Monday, the press club said Njuki’s election was a recognition of the confidence placed in him to assume an important national leadership responsibility.
The club wished the governor wisdom, strength and success as he takes up the role of steering the Council of Governors in strengthening intergovernmental relations, promoting accountable leadership and improving service delivery across the country’s 47 counties.
The press club, which brings together media practitioners in Tharaka-Nithi County, underscored the importance of transparency, access to information and effective communication between county governments and the media in strengthening devolution.
It noted that constructive engagement between the media and county leadership was essential in keeping the public informed on matters of public interest and promoting accountability in governance.
“Your election places Tharaka-Nithi County at the centre of national discourse on devolution and county governance,” the statement read in part.
The club also expressed optimism about continued collaboration between county leadership and the media to enhance public access to information and promote an informed citizenry.
Njuki’s election to lead the Council of Governors places him at the helm of the body that brings together governors from Kenya’s 47 counties to address common issues affecting county governments and engage the national government on matters relating to devolution.
The press club concluded its message by congratulating the governor on his election and wishing him success as he undertakes the responsibility of serving county governments and the people of Kenya.
