Traffic Police officers in Nakuru County, have impounded a classic bus that was headed for Nairobi from Kampala, Uganda without necessary insurance cover.
This comes barely a week after a bus from the same company, that also did not have passenger insurance killed 15 people when it was involved in an accident at the Twin Bridge along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The officers from Mau summit, Kuresoi North immediately arrested the driver of the bus that had 38 uninsured passengers on board.
The apprehended driver is set to face three charges at the Molo law courts, including driving a bus without insurance cover, carrying 38 uninsured passengers, and failing to display the required insurance sticker.
Expressing concern, Kuresoi North Subcounty Police Commander Judah Gathenge highlighted the need for strict enforcement to prevent such incidents.
He emphasized that the impounding of the bus was a direct response to the previous accident and serves as a warning to other operators neglecting insurance obligations.
Gathenge further assured the public that the police force would conduct regular traffic crackdowns along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway to identify and penalize vehicles operating without the required documentation.
Issuing a stern warning, he stated that violators of traffic acts would be held accountable and face legal consequences.
