Three women have been arrested in Kiambu for allegedly forcing female workers to undress.
The three, identified as senior managers at Brown’s Cheese Company Limited in Tigoni Estate, are said to have ordered all female workers to undress in order to establish who among them was in their period after the company’s quality assurance manager discovered a used sanitary pad dumped in a dustbin instead of a sanitary disposal bin.
According to Limuru OCPD Philip Mwania, the three will be arraigned tomorrow to face indecent assault charges.
“We received reports that female workers had been ordered to undress by their seniors who went ahead and frisked their private parts to know who among them was on their periods. Our officers rushed there and conducted a thorough investigation and recorded statements from the victims before arresting three suspects,” the OCPD said.
The company through its head of Finance and Administration Luke Kimathi said it will cooperate with the police and conduct a full internal investigation, noting all individuals involved have been suspended pending further company investigations.
The matter came to light after a male worker at the facility exposed the incident via a text to the media, which was later shared on social media forums.
“Don’t expose me. I work with the Brown’s Cheese Company Limited in Limuru Kiambu county. Today in the morning a used pad was found in the dustbin and the ladies were harassed by the Quality Assurance manager by telling ladies to undress in In front of her to check who was on her period. The ladies were demoralized,” read part of the text.
