Trade and Investment Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has been barred by the court from uttering demeaning and belittling words against any media practitioner(s) pending the hearing and determination of a petition filed seeking an order to declare him unfit to hold a public office.
Judge Lawrence Mugambi of the Milimani High Court in Nairobi issued the orders on Wednesday and also certified the application as urgent.
“ The petitioner alleges and disposes in his affidavit which is supported by annexures that there has been scandalous, offensive, vilifying and threatening words by the Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria that offends public conscience,” said Justice Mugambi.
The court ordered that the application and the petition be served to the parties within three days and responses done within seven days.
The court also directed that the petitioner is at liberty to file a rejoinder within seven days while the matter will be mentioned on July 24, 2023 to confirm compliance and for further directions.
