A family in Kiraro village, Chogoria is in despair after their daughter dropped out of college due to back pain complications.
In an effort to diagnose the possible causes of her pain, Daisy Nkatha, a student at Igoji Teachers’ College was examined at Chogoria Hospital where it was discovered that her backbone had dislocated, making it impossible for her to stand up or engage in her normal day-to-day activities.
Three months into her treatment after visits to Kiirua and Chogoria hospitals, Nkatha’s hopes of recovery were rekindled after she was able to stand, walk and sit with support but the administered drugs remain extremely impossible for the family to afford since Nkatha’s father Nicholas Kiraithe, suffered a broken leg.
Judith Cianjeru, a neighbor noted that the family has been surviving through the support of family and friends for financial, food and moral support.
The family is now pleading with Governor Muthomi Njuki, Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, Woman Representative Susan Ngugi among other leaders and well-wishers to support them financially to enable Nkatha recover fully and resume her studies.
