Tharaka Nithi County Government on Monday donated teaching aids to Rubate Presbyterian College of Health Sciences.
The over Ksh3 million equipment that were handed over to the school by Governor Muthomi Njuki included birthing models and postpartum simulators which are critical, especially in training nurses.
Speaking during the event, Governor Njuki who is also the Council of Governors Health Committee Chairperson said his government will forge collaborations with tertiary institutions.
He said his government will soon sign a memorandum of understanding to ensure a smooth collaboration.
The county boss noted that his government also aided in the installation of internet connectivity at the institution which has greatly helped students in their studies.
“We will collaborate to ensure continuity of admissions in this college which was once a great giant,” said Governor Njuki.
He said the college is set to revive the economy of a nearby Rubate market and the surrounding regions.
He said with the tarmacking of Ikuu-Rubate road accessibility of the college has become very easy and promised to improve a playground that the college students share with Rubate Primary School.
The medical college principal, Daniel Nthiga said the school has 98 nurse students and the number is expected to grow in the next intake.
He lauded the devolved government for the support noting that they have already signed a memorandum of understanding with various health facilities for clinical practicals.
“We are very grateful for the donation from our Governor and also thank him for other support projects,” said Mr Nthiga.
