Tharaka Nithi County has maintained a studious stellar performance in the provision of healthcare services as it was ranked first runners up in the just concluded health awards by Quality Healthcare Kenyan Award (QHKA).
The county’s healthcare system was voted 2nd best managed after Mombasa County in this year’s awards that were held last night at the Radisson Blu hotel in Nairobi.
In 2019, 2021 and 2022 the county emerged topped.
It’s the fifth year and the first of its kind in Africa, the QHKA in partnership with key stakeholders and the Ministry of Health recognizes outstanding performance and highlights the impact of these contributions on the Kenyan health sector, including a People’s Choice Award and an Award for Media Excellence in promoting health and well-being.
The the initiative was mooted to improve standards of health service delivery by recognizing outstanding performance, promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement, advocating for strong partnerships between health providers and users, fostering innovation and the use of information technology, and sharing best practices to encourage learning across the health sector.
The QHKA also unites the public and private sectors towards a common goal of quality people-centred care creates a platform for collaboration, and elevates the voice of the patients. The nominees are selected solely based on merit by an independent judging panel representing key stakeholders and the award winners are honoured during the award gala ceremony.
