Former Mukuuni Location Chief Eustace Mutegi was found lying dead in a shamba two kilometers from his home.
According to the Chuka Sub-County Police Commander Paul Kuria, they received information of an elderly man who had been found dead in a shamba and proceeded to the scene to confirm it was true.
“The information I am getting is that the man who is around 80 years, was found alive when he was discovered but succumbed before arrangements were done to rush him to the hospital,” he said.
The police boss said that they had found bruises on the deceased hand and leg which would assist in investigations as they wait to carry out post-mortem.
Residents expressed their shock over the incident insisting they have never seen had such cases lately Considering no incidences of insecurity had been reported.
Tabitha Mumbi, a resident said that at around 8 in the morning the man was found alive and could even talk because he confirmed his name to the area administration officers who rushed to the scene.
“Immediately he identified himself, the family was called to rush him to the hospital but he passed on before they could arrive” added the woman.
The body was taken to Chuka Level 5 Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
