The Office of the Governor of Tharaka Nithi County has appointed veteran journalist Alex Njeru as its Press Director.
Njeru, a familiar face in the media landscape, brings with him a wealth of experience garnered over years of dedicated service. Formerly a correspondent for the Nation Media Group in Tharaka Nithi County since 2014, Njeru has established himself as a seasoned professional in the field.
Hailing from Kibung’a in Tharaka Constituency, Njeru’s journey in journalism began at Mwariama FM before transitioning to various media outlets. An alumnus of Mount Kenya University, his commitment to journalistic integrity and excellence has earned him recognition as one of the top journalists in the region.
Beyond his journalistic endeavors, Njeru also holds the position of Chairman at the Tharaka Nithi County Press Association, further highlighting his leadership qualities and dedication to advancing the media profession.
Njeru’s appointment comes on the heels of his declaration of interest in becoming the third speaker of the County Assembly of Tharaka Nithi in 2022, underscoring his deep-rooted commitment to public service and community engagement.
Stepping into his new role, Njeru succeeds Naftaly Kinyua, who served as the Acting Communications Director following the 2022 general elections, during which Governor Muthomi Njuki secured a second term in office.
