The Public Service Commission (PSC) has advertised vacant positions for Vice-Chancellor (VC) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research and Student Affairs) at Tharaka University.
In the advertisement placed on the dailies and on the PSC website, the applications should reach the commission on or before April 24, 2023 latest 5pm.
The university which has been ranked the top State corporations in service delivery for several years consecutively is currently headed by Prof Peter Kinyua Muriungi as the acting Vice-Chancellor.
The varsity situated in Nkondi ward near Gatunga market has greatly expanded in terms of academics and infrastructure in a few years also promoting the economy of the once sleepy village.
This comes as Chuka University; the mother varsity is expected to receive a new VC and Council anytime, probably this week, according to reliable sources.
The acting VC Prof Dorcas Isutsa is not among the dons expected to substantially take over the leadership of the great university since she was not even shortlisted for the interviews.
The DVC Administration, Finance, Planning and Development (AFPD) Affairs Prof Henry Mutembei M’Ikiugu is among the dons who sat for the highly competitive interviews for the prime job.
Other universities which PSC has advertised for VC positions are Tom Mboya University (re-advertisement) and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.
It has also advertised DVC positions for Kenyatta University, Laikipia University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology.
