Former Chuka University vice chancellor prof. Erastus Njoka has continued with his campaign and efforts to green the environment in the County.
Speaking after donating hundreds of tree seedlings to an environmental conservation group dubbed Green Walk Movement at Katharaka primary school in Maara,Njoka said residents should use the ongoing rains to plant plenty of trees which he said are of great use.
“Trees are very useful even in manufacturing of drugs like those treating cancer,a thing we can also achieve with aided rigorous research and planting planting,” Njoka said.
Njoka however noted that the spirit of tree planting in the County has significantly dropped and there is need for leaders to encourage and lead residents in planting trees to contain climate change.
He challenged other groups to also own the initiative of planting trees in their areas regardless of their core activities for the benefit of the community.
Terry Njeru from Green Walk Movement called on residents in the grassroots to ensure they plants more trees and take care of them as a way of conserving environment.
Njoka started the initiative of greening the environment back in 2019 when he was the V.C Chuka University, which saw him plant and donate thousands of seedlings across the County.
