A police officer has today been arrested in Nzaui sub-county, Makueni county, for his alleged involvement in riots.
According to police reports, the officer identified as Constable Evans Otieno was apprehended while talking to a group of young men who were blocking the road and throwing stones at passing motorists.
On July 19, a day prior to his arrest, Otieno was reportedly spotted among the rioters who were pelting stones at the Emali Police station and its officers.
During his arrest, a quick search revealed that he was in possession of 40 rolls of bhang, with an estimated street value of approximately Ksh2,000.
“Please be informed that No.117670 Pc Evans Otieno of this command whose recommendation letter ref. kps/Dig/Est/Hrm/30/vol.v/4 dated June 19, 2023, was arrested today the 20 day of July 2023 along Msa/Nbi highway at Emali,” a Emali Police Station report reads.
“The said officer was also seen by his colleagues yesterday the 19th of July 2023 being among the rioters who were pelting stones at Emali police station and police officers’……During his arrest, after a quick search he was found in possession of 40 rolls of bhang ( canabis sativa) whose street value is approximately kshs.2000/=”, concluded the statement.
