Tharaka Member of Parliament contender in the 2022 general elections , Mr Sabastian Mwangangi alias ‘Nkuri ya Tharaka’ has exited active politics.
In a statement addressed to residents of Tharaka Constituency which has been seen by The Peak, Mwangangi said he had taken a break from active politics to pursue other career aspirations.
He thanked the great people of Tharaka Constituency for their candid discussions.
“I know there are some people in Tharaka Constituency who believe in my brand of politics and mode of articulating public issues. It’s my considered opinion that I take a Sabbatical leave out of elective politics and pursue other career aspirations,” read in part the text he posted on various public social media platforms on Wednesday.
He noted that he will not be contesting for the Tharaka MP seat in the 2027 General Elections and wished those who shall contest God’s favor.
The articulate, youthful politician who contested on TSP however said he will continue to be active in public related activities as a son of the community.
Mwangangi has a master’s degree in Diplomacy and International studies from the University of Nairobi. Currently, he is a PhD finalist in Diplomacy and International relations at the same premier university.
He was raised in the footsteps of Gikingo hills in Kathangachini Location in Tharaka North Sub County.
He went to Mubuura Primary, Yombo Primary, Mpunguru Primary and finally Kabuabua Primary school where he did his KCPE.
He joined Tharaka Boys’ High School where he emerged the top student in KCSE in the school and in Tharaka Constituency with a mean grade of B+ of 73 in 2004.
He was enrolled at Maseno University to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with Information Technology majoring in Marketing and IT.
The youthful man is a pioneer member of the Diplomacy Scholars Association of Kenya and Africa Digital Diplomacy Research Group based in WITS University South Africa.
He was also the first person to head the Department of Marketing at the Kenya School of Law where he worked until he resigned early last year to contest for the position which he lost to the incumbent, Gitonga Murugara of UDA.
