Tharaka Nithi Women Representative, Susan Ngugi, extended her support to the Gatige Widow Group in Kiang’ondu, a collective effort formed by local women to uplift themselves through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).
This development follows the group’s recent struggle to secure financial assistance from politicians and government bodies, as reported by the media.
Susan Ngugi, known for her involvement with various community groups, visited the Gatige Widow Group today, where she distributed proposal forms and assured the widows that she would personally deliver the NGAAF funds once they are ready for disbursement.
These funds are earmarked for a goat farming project that the widows aim to initiate.
In addition to her support for this specific group, Susan Ngugi encouraged other community organizations to reach out to her office and apply for NGAAF funds, emphasizing the importance of responsible utilization.
She also highlighted that the NGAAF funds can be channeled into providing scholarships and bursaries for students in the county.
Although her allocation for this purpose is not as substantial as that of other leaders, she stressed that these resources are available to all deserving students, stating, “Any child lacking the financial means to access education should apply for the bursaries because the funds are available to everyone.”
During her visit, Susan Ngugi commended the media for its unbiased reporting and commitment to covering issues affecting the local community without discrimination.
