Residents of Kiriani in Maara Sub County want the government to erect several bumps near river Maara bridge along Meru- Embu highway to avert frequent accidents that have been occuring in the area.
They said the steepy terrain as one approaches bridge makes vehicles as well motorcycles to overspeed which has cost many people’s lives within the area.
This comes after a 50-year-old man lost his life on Wednesday evening after he was hit by an over speeding vehicle while he was coming from Governor Muthomi Njuki’s event at Wiru where he was distributing planting seeds.
According to the eye witnesses, the deceased identified as Mr Kinyua Mukindia was coming from Kiriani market side on his motorcycle and was trying to move off the highway when a Toyota fielder knocked him down pushing him and his motorcycle for a about 50 metres.
Police officers who arrived at the scene moved the body of the deceased to Chuka Teaching and Referral mortuary.
