In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit, along with a multi-agency team, apprehended two alleged traffickers on Thursday in the outskirts of Isiolo town.
The suspects, identified as Nura Abdi Diba (25) and Abdillahi Golicha Meja (27), were intercepted driving a Toyota Land Cruiser (Reg No. KDG 034G) within Isiolo town.
Following the arrest, investigators led the team to Nura Abdi Diba’s residence in Kambi Garba Estate, where a search unveiled a stash of 57 stones of cannabis sativa concealed in six gunny bags.
The confiscated evidence has been securely transported to the DCI headquarters for thorough processing, while the suspects are currently undergoing investigative interviews.
Notably, it has been revealed that Abdillahi Golicha Meja, the second suspect, holds the position of Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Chari Ward in Isiolo County.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities delve deeper into this alarming connection.
