A renowned lone highway robber who has been terrorizing truck drivers at the Isiolo-Garbatula Junction has been taken into custody by police officers from Archer’s Police Post.
Ibrahim Hassan, 36, was taken into custody following a pursuit that resulted in an accident close to the police station.
At the Isiolo-Garbatula intersection, the suspect hailed down a white Mitsubishi truck with registration number KCC 723S while posing as a stranded traveler requesting to hitch a ride to Archer’s town. In the spirit of a good Samaritan, the generous motorist consented to offer Hassan a ride.
However, when they duo arrived at Archer’s posts, Hassan refused to alight the vehicle and instead pulled out a knife and threatened the driver while compelling him to proceed with the trip .
Before the culprit could do anything the driver took advantage of a unique chance, leaped off the truck, escaping unharmed, and reported the incident to police officers on duty at the Archer’s Post.
They immediately begun a pursuit to catch Hassan who had since taken control of the truck and drove it into an unfamiliar Murram route into Isiolo town to escape.
However, as luck would have it, Hassan ended driving himself into a tree as he drove in panic landing in the hands of the police who were chasing after him.
Poor Hassan went into record panic mode and swerved off the main road, colliding with a tree.
After being taken into custody at the scene of the collision, a search revealed that he was in possession of a screwdriver, a knife, and a panga, further indicating his deadly intent.
At this time, Hassan is being processed for arraignment.
