Njuki Eulogizes Late Journalist Festus Murithi Gacima for Impactful Reporting and Integrity
Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has eulogized Mr Festus Murithi Gacima as an articulate reporter whose reportage greatly impacted the community positively.
On his official social media pages, Governor Njuki said it is extremely painful to lose such a young, promising journalist whose star was just rising.
” I have learnt with sadness the demise of a budding journalist, Mr Festus Murithi Gacima, who reported for Mwenge FM from Tharaka Constituency,” read in part his condolence message.
He said Gacima’s reportage on county matters and issues that affected the people of Tharaka region, and by large, the county will be missed.
“On my behalf, and that of the great people of Tharaka Nithi, i pass my utmost condolences to his family, friends, and entire media fraternity,” also read the message.
Gacima succumbed to injuries last night at Kiirua Mission Hospital where he was receiving treatment in intensive care unit with severe head injuries
He was involved in a motorbike accident at Gaciongo in Tharaka constituency few days ago.
Various journalists led by Tharaka Nithi Press Club Chairperson and Tharaka-Nithi Governor’s Press Service Director, Alex Njeru also eulogized the deceased as a principled journalist and a team player.
He appealed to well-wishers to support the family to offset the hospital bill and in burial preparations.
“It’s a huge blow to the media fraternity in the Ameru region but we sincerely know that his immediate family is the most hit by this tragedy,” said Njeru.
