Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has given the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) a two-day ultimatum to make public a report on the investigations they gathered in her residence related to Sniper’s killing or else she will move to court and hold protests over the same.
Speaking during a press conference where she was accompanied by her husband Murega Baichu and other family members in her residence ,the Meru County boss blamed the detectives for carrying out what she termed as a one sided investigation, accusing them of being politically influenced by a section of senior politicians from Meru.
Governor Kawira said the DCI cordoned her official residence, suggesting that it was a scene of crime, confiscating all the CCTV accessories and cameras including a mobile phone from her son and all the workers though the findings have never been released despite it being a public issue.
She said she has been silent on the matter to pave way for investigations and will not be quiet anymore now that the investigations were complete and she had learnt the whole process had been politicized.
Her brother Kenneth Murangiri Guantai alongside Vincent Murithi alias Supuu are expected to be charged with murder case against Sniper.
“ You want to tell me I am that stupid to call someone knowing that I was going to kill him , I have been silent as politicians went round the county with the body of sniper painting me the killer of the young man and called me all sorts of names but now I want justice for Sniper as well as for my family,” she added .
She further said her brother who is placed on murder charges is politically fixed assuring members of the public that it was a matter of time before he walks free .
“Its unfortunate that they have caused us a lot of pain and emotional damage when they know the killers. They have been moving up and down with Subarus instead of arresting those who purport to be knowing the killers, ” said Governor Kawira.
She has further pointed fingers at her deputy governor Isaac Mutuma M’Ethinkia who she alleged to have been in constant communication with the deceased on that fateful day and even sent money.
She accused Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, Meru County Assembly Speaker Mr Ayub Bundi and a section of MPs of using the death of sniper to fight her politically .
Kawira said her hands were clean and that she has never harmed any of her critics who have also been insulting her and her family.
Sources say the governor’s husband ,her son and her sister recorded statements on Sunday 14 with the detectives, as investigations continued following the gruesome murder.
Sniper disappeared on December 2,2023 before his body was recovered dumped at River Mutonga in Tharaka Nithi county on 16th last month.
