In a surprising turn of events, Ezra Chiloba has tendered his resignation as the Director-General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). The announcement came in a statement released by the Authority today.
According to the statement, Chiloba submitted his resignation letter to the Board Chairperson, Mary Mungai, on Wednesday, October 18. The reasons for his resignation remain undisclosed.
Mary Mungai, the Board Chairperson, expressed her gratitude for Chiloba’s contributions to the organization and the broader ICT sector. She stated, “On behalf of the Authority, I wish the outgoing Director-General success in his future endeavors and appreciate his invaluable contribution to the organization and the wider ICT sector.”
This development follows Chiloba’s suspension last month, which was surrounded by speculation and uncertainty regarding the specific reasons behind the suspension.
In response to Chiloba’s resignation, Mary Mungai has appointed Christopher Wambua as the acting Director-General until further notice. Wambua will take on the responsibilities of the Director-General role as the Authority begins its search for a permanent replacement.
Ezra Chiloba’s tenure as the Director-General of the Communications Authority of Kenya lasted for two years, having been appointed to the position in October 2021.
