Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the National Government’s commitment to accelerating development in Tharaka Nithi County following a high-level consultative forum with local leaders.
In a follow-up briefing held yesterday, Prof. Kindiki met with Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki to outline a structured implementation plan for key government projects in the county.
The two leaders agreed on a roadmap that will see a dedicated committee, chaired by Governor Njuki, oversee the execution of national development programs tailored to the county’s needs.
Speaking after the meeting at DP’s official residence in Karen, Prof. Kindiki emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between the National and County Governments to ensure efficient service delivery.
“We are keen on fostering development that directly improves the livelihoods of our people. This roadmap will streamline project execution and enhance accountability,” he stated.
Governor Njuki welcomed the move, noting that the initiative would fast-track infrastructural improvements, economic growth, and social development across Tharaka Nithi.
“We now have a clear framework to drive progress in key sectors such as roads, healthcare, and education,” he said.
The meeting follows a consultative forum where local leaders and stakeholders identified priority areas requiring urgent intervention.
The implementation committee is expected to begin work immediately, focusing on high-impact projects aligned with the county’s strategic goals.
Residents of Tharaka Nithi have expressed optimism that the renewed collaboration between the two levels of government will bring tangible benefits and long-awaited progress to the region.
