Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has called on counties to adequately prepare for the projected El Nino rains to mitigate it’s negative effects.
Speaking at Uhuru Park in Nairobi during launch of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) by President William Ruto, Njuki who is also the Council of Governors’ Health Committee Chairman advised devolved governments to set up a fund that will facilitate the working of CHPs to in order to battle the diseases that come with massive waters.
He also asked the counties to effectively pay National Health Insurance Fund cover for CHPs, noting that their assignment exposes them to diseases.
“Counties need to adequately prepare for the coming El Nino rains and also pay NHIF for the CHPs,” said Njuki.
