The lifeless body of a man was found dumped at Iruma in, Maara constituency, Tharaka Nithi County on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
According to Eric Mwenda, a villager who narrated the incident, the man was found lying in a drainage tunnel by villagers who were delivered their milk in the morning.
The body had bruises on the head and hands suggesting that the deceased could have been beaten to death.
Confirming the incident, area Chief Jane Muthoni said that there was no trace of blood at the scene of crime, prompting security officials to suggest the man was killed at a different location and dumped there.
It is alleged that the deceased, commonly known to the residents as Kandara disappeared from his Kieni home three days ago with locals blaming the popular Mathare liqour den for the increased crime in Nguruki and its environs.
The body was moved to Chuka referral hospital morgue pending investigation.
