Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has assured residents that he is on course to deliver on his election promises, vowing to use the remaining 2 years and 8 months of his term as Governor for projects that will form a major part of his legacy.
Speaking at PCEA Jennifer Njuki Memorial Church during a thanksgiving service, the Governor alluded to his ‘Leaving No One Behind’ slogan where he noted that every constituency would have key projects under his legacy program.
“I will leave legacy projects in Tharaka, Maara and Chuka/Igambang’ombe constituencies because they are still part of my manifesto. I want to serve the people. Give me time and space to deliver. When my term as Governor comes to an end, I will be accountable for the projects I have promised”, he said.
Governor Njuki while telling off his critics said he had no preferred candidate in the 2027 gubernatorial or parliamentary seats, asking them to campaign without tarnishing his name.
“I have no power to declare which Governor or Member of Parliament will be elected. They (critics) should focus on delivering projects to their constituents, correcting their mistakes and faults. The people have the power to decide and elect their leaders. Do not focus on Muthomi Njuki and tarnishing my name to get elected or re-elected”, he affirmed.
Tharaka Nithi County Assembly Speaker John Mbabu noted that the county was doing better, compared to neighboring counties, identifying health as one of the major sectors performing well under Njuki’s regime.
“Some of the achievements, especially in health services can be well noticed if you visit other facilities in neighboring counties and realizing we are far ahead. Let us support Governor Njuki in the remainder of his tenure and ignore critics”, he said.
Public Administration & Devolution CECM Samuel Muthini Karangi in tune with other speakers asked those wishing to be elected in 2027 to focus on their manifesto instead of attacking Governor Njuki, additionally endorsing him to run for office in another elective position in the upcoming general elections.
“Those aspiring to be Governor and MP should use their manifesto to look for votes but not attack the Governor. When he was seeking to be elected as MP and later Governor he used a manifesto. They should seek guidance on how to traverse the county in search of votes but not insult Governor Njuki”, he said.
