Tharaka Nithi County Governor H.E Muthomi Njuki has been re-elected the Chairperson of the Health Committee of the Council of Governors for a second term.
In a meeting attended by the 47 Governors at Safari Park, Nairobi, Governor Njuki was elected among other leaders including H.E. Governor Ahmed Abdulahi of Narok County who clinched the Chairperson of the Council of Governor’s seat, H.E. Governor Mutahi Kahiga of Nyeri county who was elected Vice-chair and H.E. Governor Stephen Sang’ of Nandi County who maintained his position as majority whip.
In a statement after the election, Governor Njuki expressed his gratitude to the members of the Council of Governors for renewing their trust in his leadership by re-electing him as the chair of the health committee.
Furthermore, the Governor urged the new leadership to strive for better devolution and to make it better.
“To the new leadership at the Council of Governors, we can only better on the platform this far built and strive to fight for devolution, while cementing what has been achieved,” he reiterated.
The Governor also gave his congratulations to other Governors who were elected to various positions including the first-time Chair of the Council of Governors, H.E Governor Abdullahi who replaces outgoing Chairperson H.E Governor Anne Waiguru.
Governor Njuki has been serving in the crucial docket that plays a significant role in coordinating health matters among county governments in Kenya.
