The Chuka Pastors Fellowship has joined other religious organizations in rejecting the controversial Religious Organizations Bill, filed by Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana.
The Bill seeks to provide tough conditions for the registration of Religious organizations and harsh punishment for rogue operators and has been termed punitive and that seeks to infringe on the operations of Religious activities.
Dr Isaac Wawire, former Presiding Bishop of Word of Faith Churches and Chairman of the Chuka Pastors Fellowship has said that they fully reject the bill and that they intend to go to court to oppose the bill.
This was during Prayer Meetings organized by the Chuka Pastors Fellowship at DC Grounds, Chuka Town, where Dr Isaac Wawire revealed that the Bill was being used in a larger plot to fight faith-based teachings in schools and education institutions.
“We completely reject the bill. We agreed on an MOU. We have a team that has already filed a petition in court. We would also like the President to deny this bill,” he reiterated.
As he concluded, Dr Isaac Wawire urged the Government not to use the case of controversial Preacher John Mackenzie to introduce oppressive laws to Religious organizations urging Intelligence Organizations to quickly investigate the matter and put it to rest.
