Tharaka MP, Hon. Gitonga Murugara has accused the County Women Representative, Hon. Susan Ngugi Mwindu, of undermining his development initiatives.
The controversy revolves around a repair program for the critical Thiiti Bridge, a vital infrastructure project. The dispute erupted early this morning when, according to Murugara, chaos ensued at the bridge site.
Murugara’s engineer had just arrived to begin the repairs when Mwindu’s engineer also appeared, prepared to work on the same project. Both leaders claim to have taken the initiative, sparking a public feud over who is genuinely responsible for the repair efforts.
Addressing the situation at the scene, Susan Mwindu accused Murugara of attempting to undermine her work, stating that she had visited the area the previous day and assured residents that the repair would begin in the morning.
Mwindu’s surprise at finding Murugara’s engineer already on-site only intensified the conflict, leading to a standoff between the two teams.
Local residents added fuel to the fire by revealing that they had only heard about the bridge repair when Susan Mwindu visited them the day before. Her visit followed an accident involving a young boy at the bridge the previous month, which had raised concerns about its safety.
The political showdown has cast a shadow over what should be a straightforward infrastructure repair project, with both Murugara and Mwindu now locked in a struggle for influence and recognition.
