Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki hosted Japan Ambassador H.E. Okaniwa Ken at Bunge Tower today in a meeting focused on reinforcing the longstanding relationship between Japan and Kenya and exploring avenues to bolster Kenya’s manufacturing sector and Blue Economy.
The discusions between the MP who doubles up as the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Tourism and Wildlife and the Japan Ambassador emphasized the need for the government to create a conducive environment for investors and prioritize the growth and maintenance of the manufacturing sector to prevent its relocation.
Both parties agreed that Kenya has immense potential for the manufacturing and Blue Economy sectors to thrive.
According to a statement released after the meeting, realizing this potential requires a concerted effort from both the government and the private sector.
Key areas identified include addressing corruption, investing in education and technology, and leveraging underexploited local resources.
“Intergovernmental collaboration and cohesive deliberations create a wide range of opportunities for exploring and exploiting our full potential to enhance our economic and social levels as a country,” read part of the statement.
