Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has pledged that his government is on course to deliver on the pre-election promises as well as complete existing and upcoming projects despite the political uproar in the county.
The Governor while hitting out at elected leaders who are back on the campaign trail two years after the 2022 general elections, said it was too early to politic and asked for calmness in the county asking residents to give time and support their leaders.
“If you were elected to work for the people you should deliver and have a good track record to enable your re-election. There are people who immediately started campaigns after they were elected in office in the last election. There is time for everything, we shall come to ask for votes at the right time but for now, we must work for the people who elected us”, he said.
Governor Njuki was speaking when he officially opened the newly relocated Majira Tea Buying Centre in Chogoria Ward, Maara Constituency where the relocation has paved way for the construction of affordable housing units in the area.
He noted that the project, which was a partnership between the County and National governments was part of President Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
“Together with your Member of Parliament Kareke Mbiuki, we saw the need to have the project in Chogoria which is cosmopolitan in status due to the various institutions and organizations around. This project will go a long way to spur development in the area and lead to creation of jobs for our youth”, the Governor said.
Other key projects expected in the area include the construction of an ultra-modern market which was promised by President William Ruto.
Earlier on, the Governor commissioned Mwororo borehole project in Gatunga Ward expected to provide reliable access to clean water and improve hygiene and sanitation in the area.
