Schools across the county have been advised to adopt and recognize Alumni Associations as important players in the affairs of the institutions.
Speaking during an alumni meet and greet event at Ikuu Boys High School, Dr. Jafford Njeru who is the Chairman of the Alumni Association said such initiatives are important for the progress and growth of schools.
“As an Alumni Association, our focus is to help the school attain its targets. We are happy to have visited our alma mater and we are ready to support this institution which is a national school achieve more”, he said.
During the meeting, the Alumni Association agreed to facilitate the construction of a Welness Centre and Complex in the school, which will host a Chapel, an Auditorium, Alumni Association Office and Sanatorium.
Previous projects by the Alumni include the construction of the school perimeter wall and the library.
“We have agreed to support the school so that it can continue being a centre of excellence in Kenya. We also feel proud as old boys of Ikuu and appeal everyone to come on board”, the Alumni Chairperson said.
School Principal Mr Joseph Mbae noted that the Alumni Association plays a key role in student mentorship, saying it has encouraged students to do better in their performance.
“We work closely with the Alumni Association and believe they have an important role in the growth and development of the current students”, he said.
Board of Management (BOM) Chairperson Dr Benjamin Kanga commended the Alumni for their continued support, and reiterated their commitment to working closely with the association for the prosperity of the school.
