Tharaka-Nithi County secured two prestigious awards at the recently concluded Quality Healthcare Kenya (QHKA) Awards 2024.
The county attained recognition for its outstanding achievements in the healthcare sector, being honored as the County with the Best Managed Healthcare System and for the Best Innovation Project of the year.
Governor Muthomi Njuki, in a social media post, expressed his immense gratitude on behalf of the people of Tharaka-Nithi for receiving these accolades.
He dedicated the awards to the diligent healthcare workforce, particularly under the leadership of CECM Dr. Nthuraku Gichuiya, for their relentless efforts in enhancing healthcare accessibility.
Furthermore, Governor Njuki commended the invaluable contributions of Community Health Promoters towards fortifying the county’s healthcare infrastructure.
During the award night held on April 5, 2024, Ms. Mary Muthoni, the Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary, emphasized the paramount importance of equitable access to quality healthcare for sustainable development.
She highlighted the necessity of collective action and community empowerment in realizing Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
