The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Interior and Administration of National Government, Prof Kithure Kindiki has announced an elaborate plan to manage future threats to peace and address the root causes of violent conflicts in the country.
Speaking at his office on Wednesday, Prof Kindiki said the government is reviewing the existing normative and institutional arrangement for peacebuilding to integrate early warning and build a coherent peace-building institutional infrastructure at the national and sub-national levels.
He said in line with the Kenya Kwanza’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the principle of subsidiarity, peacebuilding will be structured to work and make decisions from the village and ward levels before escalation to the national level.
The CS spoke after receiving a presentation of The Review of Kenya’s Peace Building Architecture, by The Panel of Independent Experts appointed by the Interior Ministry, led by their Chairman, General (Rtd) Daniel Opande.Ends…/
