The Government through the Ministry of Interior is rehabilitating nine schools in West Pokot County that were destroyed by bandits.
The schools are: Cheptulel Boys’ Secondary School, Chesegon, Cheptulel, Sapulmoi, Lonyangalem, Kour, Songok and Karon Primary Schools and Kisaa ECD School.
Interior CS Prof Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday inspected the ongoing works and shared lunch with the workers and the officers serving under the ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu’ programme.
He said the marauding gangs of armed bandits had terrorised Kenyans in the North Rift Valley Region for long.
He said government will rehabilitate all schools and other social amenities abandoned or destroyed by bandit attacks.
CS said the government will provide adequate security to ensure normal learning in these schools resume next month.
