Maara sub county residents are in cerebration after Tharaka Nithi Women Representative, Susan Ngugi assured them of the opening of a Civil Registrar of Births and Deaths office at Kieganguru, Chogoria ward.
The women representative said that the office which will be opened in three weeks time which will serve the whole Sub-county and they will no longer travel to Chuka Sub-County to sort their certificates’ issues.
She said those with pending issues at the Office of Civil Registrar of Births and Deaths at Chuka will be transferred to the Kieganguru office so that they can access the documents easily.
In past years, the residents have been incurring costs and sometimes disadvantaged due to the long distance to access the services.
“With the current technology, issuance of birth certificates should take less than three minutes because there is great technology that processes them fast unlike previously where clients had to wait for months to pick their certificates.” Susan Ngugi said.
The legislator also noted that Maara Sub county has been left behind and should be considered in terms of developments like the rest of the sub counties that have benefitted alot in terms of infrastructure adding that they had law cours, ongoing KMTC’s among other projects but residents of Maara have to travel to either Chuka and Meru for court services.
“I will be the voice of the people of Maara and I will ensure that they will also be considered in projects. I will also take part in the developments of this sub county by ensuring that the new office is in good condition.” She added.
Furthermore, Deputy County Commissioner Machira Gathungu assured the residents of quality services at the new office as the officer who will manage it to ensure the services offered by the government serve the people in the area.
“This is a great initiative to ensure that people receive government services in places that are easily accessible to them. Many offices will be opened and I urge everybody to be patient for everything to start running smoothly.” Machira Gathungu noted.
