Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner, Wesley Koech, has assured the public that all necessary security measures are in place to guarantee the seamless execution of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations.
The national examinations commenced today, with an impressive 1.3 million candidates participating across the country.
Among these candidates, 11,287 are taking the KPSEA, and 13,550 are sitting for KCPE in Tharaka-Nithi County.
Commissioner Koech emphasized that the national government has deployed an ample number of security personnel to safeguard the integrity of the examinations, ensuring that they proceed without any disruptions.
He also called upon all stakeholders and multi-agency teams to collaborate closely to facilitate the smooth administration of the examinations.
Mr. Koech gave his assurance that the examinations would maintain their credibility, as there have been no reported cases of malpractice thus far.
He cautioned parents not to be tempted by individuals claiming to sell examination materials, stating, “The government has implemented all necessary measures to ensure a credible examination. So far, everything is going well. Anyone found selling examination materials should be reported.”
Despite overnight rainfall, Mr. Koech stated that Tharaka-Nithi County is well-prepared to conduct examinations at all designated centers.
He expressed confidence that the examinations would proceed smoothly, adding that contingency plans are in place to address any unforeseen issues promptly. “In case of anything, our teams have been prepared to respond. We have all the contingency plans to ensure our children receive their exams on time,” he reassured.
Bridget Wambua, the County Director of Education, urged parents to take precautionary measures, especially for candidates who must cross rivers to access examination centers due to heavy rains.
