In a significant development for education and skills training in Tharaka Nithi County, Governor Muthomi Njuki officially opened the Mugumango Vocational Training Center’s boys’ dormitory and administration block in Ganga Ward, Maara Constituency.
The governor expressed his admiration for the progress made at the training center, particularly highlighting the increased number of instructors and the introduction of unique courses, such as phone repair, which sets Mugumango Vocational Training Center apart from many other vocational institutions.
He challenged the institution to continue offering courses that meet the high demand for skilled professionals.
Governor Njuki revealed that, through a partnership between Tharaka Nithi County Government and KCB Bank’s 2Jiajiri program, 400 students from various vocational centers are receiving free training, with 40 of these beneficiaries coming from Mugumango Vocational Training Center.
Emphasizing the importance of technical courses, Governor Njuki noted that they offer ample opportunities for self-employment and job creation due to their limited competition in the job market.
He declared vocational training centers as the future of the country and encouraged parents to consider enrolling their children in these institutions, especially those in proximity to Mugumango Vocational Training Center, where a wide range of training opportunities is available.
Governor Njuki also took the opportunity to address another pressing issue in Ganga Ward, assuring residents that the county government would provide the necessary equipment to operationalize the maternity services at Mukui Hospital, addressing a long-standing concern.
Additionally, the governor inaugurated the NKangani Primary ECDE class and Gaciethetu, marking a commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the region.
