Maara Mp Kareke Mbiuki has called on Nithi Water and Sanitation Company (NIWASCO) not to interfere with other water projects in Chogoria, days after Water Police Unit disconnected Chogoria water that acts as the main source of water for chogoria town dwellers.
According to reports, NIWASCO disconnected chogoria water on 6th of October demanding Ksh 1.3m from its customers who they accuse of not paying their bills
Due to this, Chogoria residents have in the last few days experienced water shortage causing a major crisis and especially in institutions such as schools and hospitals.
The MP emphasized NIWASCO should not force any one to use their water but find proper ways to have the clients pay the bills instead of interfering with other water projects.
Chogoria water chairman Obadiah Micheu has since confirmed reconnection of water in Chogoria while cautioning water police unit not be used to sabotage water projects.
The water was reconnected after a consultation meeting between the stakeholders, county government and maara mp.
