Authorities have denied having any records of reports on the recent happenings at Mirini village of Maara Sub-county in Tharaka Nithi that left one homestead of an alleged sorcerer burnt to ashes on Wednesday evening.
Karii Sub-location assistant chief Mr.Moffat Munene said nothing had been officially reported to police or at his office concerning the allegations.
However the locals of Mirini led by a clan known NKUMA na Ritho invaded the home of One Patrick Muturi Ntemi aged 45years torching his main house, a kitchen and a goat shed alleging he killed one Kenneth Mutwiri a resident of the village.
The irate villagers told the press that the late Kenneth suffered stomach issues where his belly got so swollen becoming and hadn’t gone for long or short calls of nature but upon seeing medical attention at Magutuni hospital nothing was diagnosed.
It is alleged that there has been a land tussle between the two and that a third party not mentioned in the matter.
At the time of the arson attack both Mr Muturi and his wife were nowhere to be found.
Their daughter, Ms Glory Gatwiri told media that the previous day villagers kept streaming into their home looking for her parents and when they couldn’t find them they later that evening at around 10 pm came in huge numbers sprayed the house with petrol, setting it a blaze.
Ms. Gatwiri, her child and little sister have been spending in cold because no one wants to house them.
