As the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games kick off on the 14th of August, All Saints Embu High School rugby 15s team now says they are well prepared to lift the winner’s trophy in Rwanda.
The team from Eastern region emerged second behind Butula boys during the national competitions and according to the team captain Brian Oyugi, the rugby powerhouse say they are ready to represent the country at the East African games having worked and learnt from their previous competition mistakes.
“We have worked on our defense on the pitch which was weak during the national competitions and we have confidence that the East African trophy will land in Embu, ” Said Oyugi.
In addition, the team coach Dennis Rono noted that the boys are both physically and mentally fit for the competitions saying that they have worked on all the aspects of the game to ensure they emerge the winners.
” We have built a successive team which incorporates form 1, 2 and 3 which makes sure that they will still have a strong team even after the form fours have left, ” Rono said.
He added that the boys have also been taking part in other competitions such as the Embu Sevens where they emerged the best in the secondary school category.
The school director Paul Kiragu says they believe they have the best team for the competition and are just waiting for the day to prove it.
Kiragu says with the training at the high attitude areas, the boys are ready to compete under any weather adding that their diet has also been improved.
