A pastor who had been invited to conduct a prayer service for Form Four candidates at Ngererit Secondary School in Bomet has allegedly eloped with one of the female candidates in the school.
The pastor is said to have vanished into thin air with one of the female candidates after the ceremony with police reports filed at Konoin police station indicating the suspect was allegedly last seen boarding a Boda boda with the student at Mogogosiek trading center and thereafter disappeared into a dusty murram road without further trace.
The two are suspected to have crossed over to the neighboring Narok County.
Bomet County Education Director Leonard Ngugi asked the police to conduct a speedy investigation into the matter to allow the student get back to her studies.
“We are hoping that the police are making their effort to nab them wherever they are so that the parents are handed over their child to proceed with her education. It’s unfortunate that the student should now be revising for her national exams,” Ngugi said.
Bomet County Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Chairperson Stephen Kosgei asked schools to be cautious about visitors interacting with students.
