A total of 285,167 candidates have been placed to pursue degree and TVET courses in 282 training institutions in the country.
According to the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu during the release of the 2023/2024 Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Placement Report at the Kenya School of Government in Lower Kabete today, a total of 870,561 candidates were eligible for the placement to universities and colleges on the basis of the 2022 KCSE examination but only 285,698 submitted applications for placement.
The number of students who have secured placement to degree programmes stands at 140,107, representing 80.9% of the 173,224 students who qualified for the programme.
144,500 applicants have been placed in TVET institutions while 500 applicants have been placed to Secondary Teacher Training Colleges.
Machogu noted that 9,673 applicants who qualified for degree courses chose to be placed in TVET institutions.
130,485 students have been placed in Public Universities while 9,662 have secured slots in Private Universities.
Placement to University TVET stands at 13,465 while Ministry of Education TVET and Non-Ministry of Education TVET had 125,507 and 5,528 placements respectively.
560 students have been placed in Diploma Secondary.
A total of 285,167 students have been placed in various programmes against 768,624 available slots.
Applicants can now check their placement results via SMS by sending their KCSE Index number starting with KCSE year to 20842 with no space of slash.
