One person was today shot dead and two left nursing gunshot wounds in Kisumu town during Saba Saba anti-government protests.
The injured are receiving treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).
The JOOTRH Administrator, Mr Alex Ochieng said the one who was shot dead is a middle age man from Obunga slums.
He added that one of the admitted from Kondele slum was shot on the chest while the other from Chulaimbo area was shot on the leg .
“The two who are now in stable condition are set for surgical operation at the hospital’s theater, “said Ochieng.
He further noted that there are four other people who are admitted at the hospital with injuries caused by blunt objects.
The protest which took place in various towns across the country including capital city Nairobi will take place again next week on Wednesday according to the opposition Chief Raila Odinga.
The protest is aimed at compelling President William Ruto to stop implementation of the controversial Finance Law, 2023 which was also suspended by the court.
The opposition team also today launched collection of 10 million signatures with intention of ousting Ruto from the office .
Apart from live bullets, police also used teargas to disperse protesters.
