A 70-year-old man from Kiume village in Mituune area in Igoji East, Meru county is at risk of losing his property including houses to mudslide incase of a heavy rainfall.
Speaking to The Peak, Mr Terestino Kirimi said a deep gulley which passes near his home carrying a lot of water from the upper parts of Kibali and Giumpu areas.
He said the water has left a huge section of shamba damaged by the mudslide.
According to the neighbors, it has become very risky even for school going children compelling parents to spend morning and evening hours escorting the children.
“I do not get good sleep especially during rainy nights because of the fear of my house being carried by the mudslide,” said Mr Kirimi.
The neighbors are appealing to the National Government led by area MP Dr Shadrach Mwiti to provide solution to the problem.
Kirimi said the former government gave him trees to plant but they were swept by the heavy rain that has been witnessed this season.
