The family of a young woman who was found in a borehole at Kabuboni village, Chuka in Tharaka Nithi have vowed not to bury their kin until the truth surrounding her death is unearthed.
The family from Ikuu Village claim their daughter Ann Kambura, a student at Kiriri University, was killed if the condition her body was found in, is anything to go by.
“Those who killed my daughter strangled her with the bra she was wearing, tied her hands and she had a rope around her waist which we suspect is what they tied her with as they carried the body to the borehole, “ wept the mother, Fridah Gacheri.
She said that she went missing after she left to get her hair done in preparation to go back to school and was later found rotting in the borehole which was well secured and covered to avoid being discovered.
The terrified mother said that it was clear her daughter was murdered at a different scene before being dumped in the borehole and hopes that the government will conduct investigations.
“I am calling upon the governor Muthomi Njuki, Mp Hons. Parto, MCA and our women rep to come and assist me find justice for my daughter because we will not lay her to rest until I hear your voice,” she pleaded.
Residents of the area have condemned the act and called upon Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner and Police Commander to intervene and assist the family catch the culprits.
Meanwhile a police officer attached to Central police station in Nairobi lost his life after he was attacked by a group of three men at a bar in Kirubia area, Chuka town of Tharaka Nithi County.
The deceased PC Dickson Gitonga Machura is said to have joined his friends at the bar after attending a Tharaka Nithi NPS Officers welfare meeting in a nearby hall.
He was rushed to Chuka Referral Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries and his body transferred to the hospital’s mortuary.
No arrests have been made concerning both incidents so far.
