In the last two months at least 90 firearms and 161 rounds of ammunition have been surrendered to police in the ongoing operations in Samburu County.
The firearms include M16 rifles, AK-47 assault riffles, G3 and Carbine Mark II rifles according to the security officers who displayed them to the media.
Samburu County Commissioner Henry Wafula said government still appeal to those who are yet to surrender illegal guns to do so.
The county boss lauded security teams, residents l and the clergy for their positive contribution in the fight against banditry.
The operation is mainly meant to end deadly banditry in the North Rift Kenya which has existed for many years affecting peace and development in the vast region.
Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination and National Government Prof Kithure Kindiki told the Parliament early this week that the operation will continue until security is restored in the area.
Military is part of the operation which is led by police.
